Each InterAction contact can have any number of email addresses. When sending a broadcast email message using InterAction Broadcast Email, you must specify which address to use. You indicate this by selecting one of the following email address location types in the InterAction Broadcast Email dialog box.
Email Address Location Types
| Email Address Location Type | Result |
|---|---|
| Business |
The message is addressed to each contact's Business or Business2 email address if possible. Note that the Business type always takes precedence over the Business2 type. |
| Home | The message is addressed to each contact's Home email address if possible. |
| Business; Home if necessary |
InterAction Broadcast Email attempts to address the message to each contact's Business or Business2 email address. If a contact does not have either a Business or Business2 email address, the Home email address is used instead. Note that the Business type always takes precedence over the Business2 type. |
| Home; Business if necessary | InterAction Broadcast Email attempts to address the message to each contact's Home email address. If a contact does not have a Home email address, the Business or Business2 email address is used instead. |
In all cases, InterAction Broadcast Email attempts to use the folder-specific email address of the specified type. If no folder-specific address exists, the global address will be used instead. The global address is always used when sending an email from a search result that searched more than one folder.
Note that the contact must have an email address of the right type to be included in the message. For example, assume Jane Tarnoff only has a Business email address. You select the Home option. Even though Jane has an email address, she will not be included in the message since she does not have a Home address.
Contacts Without Email Addresses
If one of the contacts included in the group of recipients does not have an email address of the appropriate type, InterAction Broadcast Email takes one of three actions. You can select the action you want to occur in the InterAction Broadcast Email dialog box.
- Skip the contact - the contact is not included in the list of recipients for the email message.
- Prompt for an e-mail address - InterAction Broadcast Email prompts you to enter an email address for the recipient. Note that the address you enter is NOT saved in InterAction; see the Add an Electronic Address or InterAction Help for information about adding email addresses.
- Display a warning and stop - InterAction Broadcast Email displays a warning message, then stops processing. No email message is created.
