If you are working with a large set of contacts, see the recommendations given in Performing Association Cleanup on a Large Set of Contacts.
-
Determine the contacts you want to correct. Open a folder, perform a search of a single folder, or select an individual contact.
If you perform Association Cleanup on a large folder, set the letter bar to ALL before running Association Cleanup to process the whole folder. If the folder is very large, you may want to choose View > Range of Contacts to perform Association Cleanup in several batches.
- Choose one of the following:
- To perform Association Cleanup on a folder, choose Tools > Association Cleanup > Folder
- To perform Association Cleanup on a single contact, choose Tools > Association Cleanup > Selected Contact.
- Complete the series of wizard panels to set the Association Cleanup options. These determine what happens when InterAction identifies matching companies, professional addresses, and professional phones.
- Confirm your selected configuration, then choose OK to start the process.
- If you configured Association Cleanup to prompt before making changes, such as adding a new company, InterAction displays the prompts in the progress dialog box. Decide what action you want to take for each situation and choose the appropriate button to continue.
-
When Association Cleanup is complete, InterAction displays the Association Cleanup - Results dialog box, which summarizes the following for all contacts processed:
- Number of new companies added
- Number of people associated with companies
- Number of contacts skipped
The results dialog box also gives you the option of saving a log file with a detailed audit trail of all Association Cleanup actions and changes. See Association Cleanup Log File and Activities for more information.
