InterAction provides a tool so that Report Managers can export instruction from one user’s My Export Instructions list and then import it into another user’s My Export Instructions list.
- Only report managers can perform this task
- Export instructions can only be imported as an InterAction contact report. They cannot be imported directly as an export instruction.
- User export instructions can be imported as a firm export instruction.
Exporting Export Instructions
Export instructions are exported with the IRD extension (InterAction Report Definition). A copy of the instructions is exported to the specified location.
- Choose Folder > Export.
Select the export instruction to export.
If you are exporting user export instructions, choose My Export Instructions in the Show drop-down list. If you are exporting firm export instructions, choose Firm Export Instructions in the Show drop-down list.
- Choose Advanced > Export Instructions to File.
- Navigate to the location to save the file then choose Save.
Importing Export Instructions
Use this procedure when importing one user’s My Export Instructions list to another user’s My Export Instructions list.
- In the InterAction Windows Client, choose Folder > Export.
- If you are importing user export instructions, choose My Export Instructions in the Show drop-down list. If you are importing firm export instructions, choose Firm Export Instructions in the Show drop-down list.
- Choose Advanced > Import Instructions from File.
- Navigate to the IRD (InterAction Report Definition) file then choose Open.
Importing Export Instructions as InterAction Reports
Export instructions can only be imported by a Report Manager as an InterAction contact report. By default, the Windows Client report is inactive and has the same security settings that were configured for the export instructions.
- In the InterAction Windows Client, choose Tools > Reports.
- Choose Manage.
- Choose Advanced > Import Report from File.
- Choose the category to place the report in the Report Category drop-down list then choose OK.
- Navigate to the IRD file then choose Open.
- Choose Yes when prompted “The selected file is an export instruction file. Are you sure you want to import it as a report?”
Save User Export Instructions as Firm Export Instructions
You cannot open a user export instruction and save it as a firm export instruction. Report managers can export a user export instruction and then re-import it as a firm export instruction.
