Data stewards may use a variety of tools in the process of improving the quality of InterAction data. These tools typically include the following:
- InterAction Windows Client - The data steward works primarily in this software to maintain contact data and folders.
- InterAction Web Client - The data steward needs to use InterAction Web Client to review the profile created using information from the information folders and ensure that it is meeting user needs. For more information about profiles, see the Configuring InterAction guide.
- InterAction Data Minder - Data stewards or administrators can use Data Minder to specify data standardization rules for incoming data from IMO, IQ2.x, Mobility, and the Web Client. Rules can also be applied to existing InterAction data. Data Minder also provides a new interface/approach for Duplicate management and resolution.
-
Data Change Management - Changes made by users in the Web Client can be monitored by data stewards for accuracy and completeness. Through the Data Change Management Inbox, data stewards receive tickets for changes that must be reviewed and acted upon. For more information, see "Overview of Data Change Management" on page 1.
Note: Data Change Management should catch most issues where key contact data is modified, however contacts added through import into the firm list or Application Collaboration and contacts modified in the Windows Client are not subject to Data Change Management.

Data Quality Features - Several data quality features are available in the InterAction Windows Client software. These include the following:
Feature For details, see ... Merging duplicate phones and addresses Merging Contact Information - Phones, Addresses, and Electronic Addresses and Multi-Address Duplicate Merge Moving a phone or address from a company’s record to a person Transferring Phones, Addresses, and Electronic Addresses from Company to People Moving a phone or address from a person’s record to a company Transferring Phones, Addresses and Electronic Addresses from Person to Company - InterAction Searches - The data steward can construct and save searches in the Windows Client to find contacts that are missing key data. For example, if the organization requires that all Companies in the Firm Contacts - Companies folder be identified by an Industry Code, the data steward can create a search for Companies where this field is empty. Searches should also be run periodically for contacts that are missing key contact data, such as a City, State, or ZIP Code. For more information, see Recommended Data Maintenance Searches.
- Extended Searches - The data steward also has access to provided additional searches that perform more complex queries than can be performed by most InterAction searches. For example, the data stewards will have access to a full set of potential duplicate searches.
-
Data Quality Reports - Several data quality reports are available with the InterAction Windows Client software. These reports are often used when managing the quality of your InterAction data. To access these reports, you must enter your Advanced Data Quality Features License in InterAction Administrator.
See Specifying Your Advanced Data Quality Features License for information on specifying the license key.
See Out-of-the-Box Data Quality Reports for information on each report.
Additional data quality reports are available to users with access to InterAction Administrator.
