InterAction includes several searches provided out of the box to assist you in improving data quality. For more information on these searches, see Recommended Data Maintenance Searches. In addition, you can create your own searches. The following examples can help you get started.
Finding Incomplete Contacts Search Example
You can use searches to find incomplete contacts that need to be “cleaned up.” For example, you may want to validate data after performing an import. Once you have found an incomplete contact, you can either add the information yourself or inform the contact’s owner.
Note that the out-of-the-box CDM and data quality searches provide an excellent start for searches that you can use.
The following are some useful search conditions when searching for incomplete contacts:
- [City] is empty - searches for contacts where the city is blank AND contacts that do not have any addresses. You can use a similar search for other address fields such as State or Zip/Postal Code. You can also perform a similar search using name, phone, or electronic address fields.
- Contact does not have at least one phone - searches for contacts that do not have any phones. You can also search for contacts that do not have at least one address or contacts that do not have at least one electronic address.
- Contact does not have a mailing address.
- Person is not associated with a Company - searches for unassociated person contacts.
To keep track of the contacts that need to be fixed, create a yes/no additional field called “Bad Address” (or something similar) for the folder. Once you have performed the search, choose Mark > Mark All and choose Mark > Set Additional Field to set the “Bad Address” field to “Yes.”
Marketing Lists - Recipients with No Mailing Address Search Example
Use this search to identify contacts that do not have a mailing address identified. For each contact in the results, either remove the contact, or set an address as a mailing address.
This search limits the results to those contacts receiving the mailing by regular mail, based on the folder specific field Delivery Method. If this field does not apply to the mailing list you are searching, delete that condition from the search. For instance, if the mailing is always sent by regular mail and does not use this field, then the Delivery Method criteria is irrelevant.
Search only in the selected folders:
Select the specific marketing list folder to search
Criteria:
(Delivery method is Both OR Delivery method is Regular Mail) AND Contact does not have a mailing address
